Tour and learn about the work happening at the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Offshore Wind Training Facility in Hammonton, NJ. This state-of-the-art training facility will provide the workforce development necessary for the burgeoning offshore wind industry for our state and region. This facility, and others like it, will provide carpenters from across the country with the foundational skills needed to aid in the expansion of the wind energy industry and infrastructure work, including concrete formwork, pile driving, rigging and more.
The manufacturing industry in New Jersey now has access to a mobile training center that will be traveling across the Garden State, bringing with it the latest technologies in modern manufacturing to bring upskilling where it is needed. NJMEP is kitting out a custom-built, 38 by 8.5-foot 2023 Winnebago WFJ38S, which will have the ability to be loaded up with the industry’s latest advanced manufacturing tech or turned into a classroom on demand.
Mobile Training Center Advanced Manufacturing Technology On-Board:
The NJMEP Mobile Training Center will act as the ultimate tool for advanced manufacturing skills training by providing students with “hands on experiences” while exposing them to what’s possible within the industry.
Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Developer welcomes Time for Turbine 7 attendees to experience the Educational Community Outreach (ECO) Center-- a unique, engaging space connected to Stockton University and situated on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Opened in 2020 as an anchor tenant of the brand-new campus residence hall, the ECO Center has become a place-maker and destination on the world-famous Atlantic City Boardwalk. Throughout the year, groups and various stakeholders visit to learn more about Atlantic Shores projects and offshore wind energy through a variety of mediums that include information sessions, informational boards, VR headsets, and wind turbine models and foundations. Its proximity to the beach allows for the facilitation of hands-on, STEM learning activities about offshore wind, done in partnership with the non-profit OffshoreWind4Kids. In fact, be ready get a little sandy--weather permitting, attendees will enjoy a short demo on the beach.
For more than 50 years, the Rutgers University Marine Field Station at Tuckerton has been sampling and sensing the marine and estuarine environments of Little Egg Harbor and the Great Bay. Surrounded by salt marsh and poised at the mouth of an active ocean inlet, data collected here is used to inform coastal fisheries, communities, and industries about the ways in which our marine environment is adapting, and establishes a baseline for research on the impacts of offshore wind farms on the ocean before, during and after construction.
The Rutgers University Center for Ocean Observing Leadership (RUCOOL) is located on the main New Brunswick campus, but Lab professors will give a portable demonstration of the RUCOOL technology at the RU Marine Field Station in Tuckerton. Our faculty, staff and students are engaged in research that spans extreme weather events like hurricanes, to polar science and environmental considerations with the introduction off offshore wind energy to the US. This tour will introduce you to RUCOOL science and technology and its role in supporting the offshore wind industry.
The Stockton University Marine Field Station (MFS) in Port Republic, NJ is home base for the Stockton Marine and Coastal programs and the Stockton fleet. The MFS is surrounded by the Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve, the Forsyth Refuge of the USFWS and extensive state lands. The MFS supports research and teaching in the marine environment including beach and dune protection, including work on harbor seals, artificial reefs, hydrology, oyster reef and seagrass restoration and marine archaeology.
